A Changing Room
A few months ago we stood around scratching our heads
wondering how to begin the refurbishment on Room 2 at Knightswood
Congregational Church. The ideal situation would be to turn
the room into a room which could be multi functional. To be
used as a meeting room, an office space and computer room
for the young people of the Church.

recently ran a competition called 'Glasgow Digital City' -
a competition about the use of technology and how it has affected
or changed your life.

Congregational Federation 2005 May Assembly
We arrived by varying forms of transport in Cheltenham on the
Friday and in the morning we set off for the Bacon Theatre at
Dean Close School in Cheltenham where the Assembly was taking
place. Considering the distance involved there was a reasonably
healthy Scottish attendance. Nine of us from Knightswood, one
from Partick and three from Eyemouth eight from Musselburgh,
two from Aberdeen, and Airdrie Ebenezer and one from Lloyd Morris,
making twenty six in total. Full

A Church Transformed: 2003-2005
The EU Congregational Church at Pathhead, Kirkcaldy embarked
on a refurbishment plan in 2003, based on a new gas central
heating installation
and rewiring. This ultimately and quickly led to the re-carpeting
of the vestibule, church, hall and kitchen. The hall and kitchen
were redecorated and a unisex disabled friendly toilet created.
New tables and curtains completed the hall and kitchen. Our
grand piano was over-hauled and a digital hymnal purchased for
emergency use only. Externally, roof and glazing works were
undertaken and the paintwork renewed. Two new notice boards
front and rear completed the project. We post this notice by
way of encouragement to smaller congregations like ourselves.
The original heating and wiring replacement built a wonderful
momentum and all became possible through hard work, congregational
generosity, and prayer.

Minister's Conference
On Tuesday 26th April, 15 of our Church ministers and pastors
gathered for a day conference in Coatdyke Congregational Church.
We gathered from as far a field as Oban, Eyemouth and Hawick
as well as the central belt. Tom Wilson (minister of the Church)
led us in devotions.
We
were led in our day by Scott Robertson an Episcopal minister
from Ardrossan. He led and interesting and thoughtful presentation
on 'Healing the Hurts' looking at our separation from God and
the road back. In the afternoon Angus McFarlane led us in discussion
on some of the complexities of funerals. All thought it was
a good day of fellowship and helpful discussion. Alan

Assembly Embraces the World Wide Web
Representatives from 26 Churches gave the thumbs up to the
new website at the Area Assembly in Shotts and endorsed the
work being done to develop the site. The Assembly praised the
efforts of our Webmaster, Mark Chatham, in getting the site
up and running so quickly and to such a high standard.
Churches were encouraged to use the website as a means of disseminating
information to individuals and other churches about what was
happening in Congregationalism throughout the country and beyond.

Graham Adams
It
was with a great sense of shock and sadness that we heard of
the death of Graham Adams, the good, warm, gracious man who
did so much for our churches in Scotland when we joined the
Congregational Federation. So we invited the Rev. James Smith,
who worked closely with him over the years and who took part
in the funeral service, to write this obituary. Click
here to read it.
Ministers' & Pastors' Fellowship
Following an indication from Rev Stanley Britton of his intention
to stand down from organising the annual meetings of Ministers
and Pastors, a new set up will now be tried over the next year.
It has been recognised that Ministers/Pastors/Retired Ministers
and Lay Preachers have differing needs and in an attempt to
meet these needs, the groups will now be overseen by the following
people :
Active Ministers - Rev Jim Smith
Lay Pastors, ie those taking occasional services
- Pastor Dave Taylor / Dr Ivy Barclay
Retired Ministers/ Pastors - Rev John Butler /
Rev Frank Maxwell
